A beautiful short video as a reminder we are losing a lot of the natural world.
So summer has been and gone! As you can tell from the lack of posts it was a very busy one! In some ways I am glad it is over but also wishing I could have enjoyed the weather a bit more. Onward and upwards….
This is amazing! It has taken me some time to get through it. Recently, the BBC did a series on the Great Barrier Reef which was amazing enough. Along side that though they have created this interactive journey. Definitely worth looking through, also a great learn tool for children.
Finally, I am starting to get caught up on some of the reading I have been wanting/needing to do. With that I thought I would share this link:
Its an article written in regards to the SeaLife Trust and what they are currently doing. Pretty awesome and a lot of money raise to go towards some amazing projects.
I have remained quiet about the fact I am going to be an Ocean Film Festival crew member this year. I am very excited about being able to participate and have wanted to do this during previous years however, found out about it too late! So this year I have gotten in early and get to annoy the world with more ocean related topics. The film festival doesn’t start until September when selected destination through out the UK will get viewings of the latest and best ocean films (http://www.oceanfilmfestival.co.uk/home).
With the build up to September however, there is going to be a Plastic Free July. Are you up for the challenge? The idea behind this is to stop using single use plastics for the whole month with the potential of stopping forever. I am currently not able to complete the full challenge but I will be completing the TOP 4. The TOP4 includes take away coffee cups, straws, carrier bags and single use plastic bottles. This I think is do-able and I am already really good with a few of these. Sometime sliding with others! Do you think you could give up these items? Needless to say as the month begins I will fill my blog with the reasons behind giving up plastic.
It’s Shark Week woot, woot!! So the 26th June saw the kick off of Discoveries Shark week. Unfortunately, I don’t have this channel so I am picking up what I can and my social media is alight with what is happening. Also, here in the UK this isn’t as much of a big deal compared to the states. This makes me sad, this is the one week of the year where I don’t look like a crazy person with all my shark craziness! So incase you weren’t aware you are now, tune in and learn about one of the most amazing creatures in the sea.
